1. Here is a more permanent solution. If you go into your outbreak directory, look in the CFG folder for a text file called autoexec, open it up and a few lines down you will find the “disable_kick 1” command line. Just change the “1” to a “0” and save the file. Now you won’t have to enable it through consol every time you start a new game.
2. Believe it or not I have an answer for you. It’s going to be a long strange journey so bare with me.
First you need the qc of the altered model, now put it in C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/(your name). Make sure it’s in the folder with your name.
Next you will need to open your windows system 32 command consol (you should be able to find it under your start menu).
Now launch steam, go to tools and right click on source sdk properties (you need to have sdk installed for this to work) now go to properties and click on “set launching options” and type: “-engine ep1” (without the “ ”). Now launch sdk and open up the “model viewer” with Half Life 2 selected as the “current game”. NOTE: you need to have sdk and model viewer open during the compiling process or you will get these two errors: ERROR: 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' (assert: 1)
ERROR: Aborted processing on “whatever .mdl you were working with”.
Now, go back to your windows system 32 consol and type (or copy paste) : cmd.exe
Hit enter. Now type: cd "%sourcesdk%"
Hit enter. Now type: bin\ep1\bin\studiomdl.exe -game bin\ep1\bin\vconfig ..\mdldecompiler.qc
Hit enter and watch the magic unfold.
When it’s finished compiling, you can find all of your (I think there’s 7) files under your C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\”your name”\sourcesdk\bin\ep1\bin\vconfig
Directory.
I did not figure this out, someone told me how to do this a while back but I can’t remember who though.
3. No idea on that one.
4. I remember seeing one in Smod Tactical (if I am thinking of the right mdl) so there is one out there. Try asking around on Tactical’s forums. Or just keep searching the web.
5. I also just started mapping with Hammer. It’s really overwhelming at first but once you start to get used to it, you’ll fall in love with the creative freedom it gives you. If you have any questions check out this site (you probably already know about it)
developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Level_Design you will find pretty much everything you will ever need here. You will find it more useful as your skills improve and you get curios about logic entities and other more advanced stuff. Also if you run into errors while compiling your maps try this site (it saved my life a few times now)
www.interlopers.net/index.php?page=errors I hope I helped you out in some way, good luck! I look forward to your release.
