Ive been playing OUTBREAK for awhile now and for some odd reason, I'm starting to get these... short lag spikes.. the occur every 20-30 seconds and then stop and start again.. Anyone know how I can fix this? it would be greatly appreciated and Good luck with the new Outbreak Vet.

thanks man.
the only thing that comes to mind when i read your description is a possible network card issue. a long time ago i had this (pci-slot) wireless netgear card that would sometimes make my entire system run funny.
sometimes it would lag my startup by up to ...heh..20-30 seconds, as well as in game, or cause other mysterious crashes in a number of different activities. try disabling the network card before you start up steam, if you have one that is. use steam in offline mode just to see if you still experience the lag spike.
other than that, i'd have to give you an emotionally detached corporate/robotic answer heh..which is
a.) defragment your pc b.) make sure you don't have an excess amount of backround services running while playing (ctrl+alt+delete, check "process" in task manager) c.) run a scandisk at startup, right click on c: drive>properties>tools and run it d.) make sure you have more than %12 of free hard drive space
finally, i wouldnt recommend this UNLESS you're comfortable with windows. this is a little trick that i've found out through the times my friend.
1.) reboot 2.) spam f8 key until "advanced" bootup options appear, the "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc menu will appear. 3.) select "directory services restore (windows domain controllers only)" option, it's probably the longest name on the menu 4.) try running the game and see if this still occurs
what directory services restoration mode does, is essentially run windows in SAFE MODE, except with the bare-bone essential drivers needed to be fully functional, includes audio, video, etc. in SAFE MODE, you'll notice you cant run anything, including direct x etc
you'll also notice a system starting up with 50 processes in the backround, wouldnt be done to 20 or less in directory services restoration mode.
if the problem still continues, it could be a hardware component that's failing.
OR, i could be completely wrong and its a configuration problem within smod, you can never tell with these things.
hey bro hope this helps.
