don't say that the majority of victims who died in mexico were very poor, malnourished and had weak immune systems to begin with, that's why the casualty rate was much higher than the cases being treated at home don't spread fear homie, that shit is unbecoming

Yeah theres quite a few being closed. It should all be okay according to what we are hearing from the CDC. It looks like it will just be like the seasonal flu. However the sheriffs office I work at and the local county government are still very uptight about this, as are all counties around the outbreak cluster. I believe the government is just concerned about the genetic make up of the virus. It has a possbility to mutate, thats why thier watching it so closely. From what I've heard the CDC is saying it doesn't look like it will mutate into anything like the Spanish Flu of 1918. Which is a relief. Just keep your eyes open, check the reports occasionally. We should probaly know the extent of the virus and whether it will emerge more virulent when flu season starts back up in october.

Thanks for that, clatus. The ruckus makes a lot more sense when you give it that context.
S'pose I should've thought to look into it but it had seemed from the outset to be a gross overreaction.

It has calmed down. Here at the hospital I work at (yeah, I'm at work atm) we have taken down the quarantine tents in our back lot.
It's never a bad thing to be prepared but I believe the media just goes overboard & tells half truths that leads to people's fears.
