Map with random zombie spawns, but with a place where I can get ammo/barricade would be good. SP would be excellent too.

Id say #1 as well Vet, custom content would be cool to mess with however it should be set as an optional thing. Go to as choice.
(btw sry ive been gone so long, life/work has a tendency to do that)

I say you should keep going with the HL2 story line but it is inevitable that you will eventually run out of SP maps so random maps wouldn’t be a bad idea. I am still working on my first map in my mini episode for outbreak and it is coming along slow but steady. I have mastered much of hammer in a short time but I still have a lot to learn. I have a lot of the gameplay functions that I had planed working but there are still some bugs here and there I will be posting a thread shortly all of the information regarding this map. For now I say you should keep moving forward with the SP campaign.

I agree, its much more appealing for me as well, valve did a pretty good job of creating the post-apocalypse maps, just let left very very vacant, with room for fighting...everywhere...
I'm really anxious to work on the mapadds, it seems like scripts and models have no end though, right when i celebrate a new victory with this or that, and think i can finally set the models aside, BOOM something else comes up
i suppose its for the better though, gonna slow down and take it easy....slowly but very surely

The models will never end, they will slow down but you know as long as you are still working with this mod you will always come across new models that for whatever reason are just so dam appealing and you will find yourself awestruck at the thought of that model in action. After witch you will find your self compelled to give it animations and implement it in your mod. I think the reason this happens is we get sick of the same thing after a while and when we have the power to change the thing we are sick of seeing we realize we really don’t have an excuse for not doing so. I suppose this is why a lot of mods turn into never ending projects. Hopefully when I finish my map you’ll get the chance to sit back and play a map that is unfamiliar and one that you didn’t place the enemies in allowing you to enjoy your own mod the same way other people do. I don’t know, I am just babbling.

that would be nice, other than test runs in mapadds, i dont really play it, since test runs are observational mostly, i think its time to update you guys though, i didnt want to update this without new mapadds for you guys, but the benefits of the new file structure are too vast to wait on i think.
also, i think this time around not css or hl2dm will be required, only the source-base sdk and HL2, I'm in the process of testing this right now, the addcontents only seem to make MAPS available and certain SOUNDS, if this is the case, i see no reason why the sounds script if edited would provide everything we need for this mod to FUNCTION. if players want to engage in css maps or whatever then it will be up to them to addcontents.txt the mounts
and i agree about the models, there was a time where i even wanted to change the coke-cans, furniture, TV's haha, then I realized this would be better for the END finishing touches, once the foundation (the SP campaign) is complete

Take your time Vet, I don’t think any one here is that much of a rush. I’ll admit I can’t wait to see what evil additions you have made but I think most of us here would rather wait than have you feel like you have a deadline. And to be honest I agree about the mapadds, I think the community would be happy with just a few more levels of the SP campaign alone, but with all of the stuff in the update that I have seen, so far looks pretty dam amassing.

agreed, its better to just give one fat and plump update with the entire package, it'll also be more overwhelming for the players with that "woooow" feeling, like the initial release. new effects, better performance, smaller install, no mounts needed PLUS single player campaign (about 8 or 9 additional maps) ... shit..you've got a winning combination there!

That’s what I would do, overwhelm them with goodies. It sounds like this update is really going to enhance the whole experience. Besides anyone here who didn’t have the patience to wait around while you and the rest of the devs prepared the update are only going to hate themselves and come back looking for a taste of the new update. That’s when we dispatch the hit squads to cattle prod them and then beat them to death with empty water bottles (by far the longest and most annoying way to die).

But I think if someone where to give you the .gcf's it might just work, I'm not sure. But Most Likely you'll need to purchase the real Game.

i think that it will require to different folders (one for ep1 1 for half life 2) unless you can run half life 2 on the ep1 enigne also clanecloard i think you should get ep1 its alot of fun or the episode

yeah, but dont worry, update will only require HL2 and source sdk base, if EP1 ever comes around or is implented, a seperate script file will be included, making EP1 OPTIONAL, not MANDATORY :]
