Anyway I think the mod is pretty much ready. I can't think of anything else that would be interested to be inputed other then an Idle Position for the "zombie2". Maybe the Fast Zombie Animation perhaps?

hay im new to this form but not the mod i would like to say this i think it the best smod out there and maybe you could add a leader zombie that calls all the other to your loc im just saying if you dont have something like that yet.

QFT!, I can't see how you would farther improve it, I think it only needs "The Boss Zombie" thingy which you are already working and it's done.

will be there a public beta testing or you'll just release it ?

wells - this would be a possibility, as soon as all of us as modders continue to grow and improve our knowledge and skills. UV mapping with the direct x ripper is an issue for me, due to my lack of knowledge - but everything can be learned, i know you have a good eye for models, so ill make sure to let ya know once ripping is an stream-lined process for us

Actually.F3 uses TES engine and it seems easy to get models in it.I think if you look around TES sites you may find ESM opener and NIF converter.

I want ask do will smod: outbreak have some cool special graphics effects like sun beams or Object motion blur like in crysis (i dont mean screen motion blur) or maybe dynamic fire or better depth of field or dynamic weather? Or best is gameplay graphics dont take much role in this mod? just asking anyway good luck on this mod! And omg i cant wait for some public beta version!!! ;D

While I think this mod is going to be awesome no matter what road you decide to go down, I do have a few suggestions/concerns that I think could majorly affect the feel and atmosphere of this mod.

The main thing is, in the demo, I noticed that at all times, you had an almost unlimited access to a rambo-esque arsenal of advanced weapons of all shapes and sizes. Dont get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with this at ALL in most cases, but I feel that when you're facing down a mob of zombies with a full armory of advanced, automatic weapons, it kind of takes away the sense that you're a desperate survivor in a zombie apocalypse who's fighting for his very survival.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the basic idea I got from this mod is that humanity has lost a "World War Z" type scenerio, and now City 17 is one of the last beacons of humanity, and it is guarded by a brutal police state who keeps its citizens at bay in return for protection against the zombie hordes of the outside world. (At least, thats the idea I got from what you guys have so far.) So, even if the remaining government had a huge stockpile of weapons, the common citizens would probably have to make do with civilian weaponry such as hunting rifles and bows/crossbows, shotguns, lower-quality handguns, and of course your standard set of houshold hand to hand weapons like machetes, knives, bats, and so on.

Therefore, I think that weapons such as these should be much more common than millitary firepower, and that millitary issue equipment should be a special treat that you only encounter on occasion. That, I think, would make it feel much more like a desperate bid for survival and less like a heroic action movie.
(sorry for the huge posting, but It just helps me think, lol.)

you're actually right on the ball, with the environment, i didn't have a specific story or reason for -WHY- things are the way they are. But yes, ruthless police state is right, and yes, city 17 is pretty much the last beacon of humanity, or at least i wanted it to feel that way. I wanted the player to feel like he was in the middle of the struggle that could affect the entire hl2 universe.

The demo is very rough, unstable and poorly put together in my own personal and harsh standards. however at the time i shared it, i wasn't sure if I'd ever work on it after that, or be able to for that matter, and i was a bit burned out from about 8 months of hard work. a lot of things are wrong in the demo that i vaporized from the public. gameplay, weapons, etc etc. while it might be one of the cleanest smod file structures and best looking, it lacked in everything.

to not post massively, i can tell you the closest thing i can achieve currently with your feedback on the weapon system, is that you wont fight soldiers with heavy assault rifles etc from the very start. I have begun just recently, scaling the weapons the player will have available to him throughout the campaign, as well as enemies.

so in theory, d1_canals_01 to canals_04 you will only have the basic pistol, and smgs available, then I'll put the shotgun next, heavy pistol, m16, etc. introducing them gradually like the original campaign, or as similar as possible. also, the citizens no longer use any kind of heavy weapons except for the m16. their layout is mainly the 2 smgs, p90/mp5, occasionally the shotgun, and a low chance of the m16 as well. melee weapons aren't very convincing in my opinion for the source engine, i have yet to see a weapon animation/release that makes you say "umph" when you strike and hit, so while your idea is very creative and would fit in great, i don't see it happening

ill also let you know that the combine soldiers behavior, damage and overall difficulty has been adjusted greatly, so they are truly something to be cautious around. oh man, if i told you all the changes that have come since that dusty old version .45 (a randomly made up number), you would shit yourself. i can only hope it turns out as good as you expect, i am confident it wont disappoint though :]

Excellent. I'm all for deadly professional soldiers being...well professional and deadly. And I agree with the poster, Valve really should put some decent melee weapons in the Source engine, I mean the same old crowbar swipe is rather sad. I've seen modders and coders create better melee weapons for source...

A couple other suggestions, though- you know the lean manuver that smod and pretty much all it's sub-mods have? I always wondered why Tactical was the only version where you could bring your gun with you as you were leaning- in the others, you just peek around the corner and hold your weapon down low for some reason.
Seeing as the AI and weapon powers are to be increased to more realistic levels (right?) I think it would be neccissary at times to be able to take cover, but still be able to trade shots with your opponents without exposing your entire body to their fire.

Another idea- to add to the realism and franticness of combat, maybe add a system where you lose the remaining rounds in your magazine when you reload. An old HL1 mod used this system- Night at the office- and while it was frustrating at times to lose a whole bunch of bullets in order to ensure your gun would be full at the next battle, it added a level of challenge and strategy that I've yet to see emulated in any other game. Can you do it? Would you?

as for leaning, it has fully been implemented, probably leaning a bit farther than many might consider "legal", but its instrumental in surviving a handful of combine encounters

I don't know if you've been able to stumble upon any well coded melee weapons, but how about including the regular SMOD shovel, that had a fairly decent umph to it.

I have to laugh Vet, you call it a dusty old .45 and honestly i remember when the mod was BEFORE that version. I thought .45 was an great update, however hearing it being compared to the new one makes me just want to play the new mod even more. Cant wait for this to come out anymore!

On a second note as to the shovel, common man who could forget how powerful that weapon was? You smack a combine or a zombie with the shovel they go flying. As entertaining as it was, i doubt any survivor in outbreak has the strength to knock a zombie 50 feet back with a shovel.

IneptGaurd[/b] has been helping me with this like you wouldn't believe, honestly, if it wasn't for him, this next release would be plagued with technical anomalies, probably not a big deal to you guys, but a very big deal for us

just hang in there brother, it'll come, and worst comes to worst, i can always make a release then patch as needed, i just don't do that, because then we'd have a patch every other week which is confusing for you guys

i also need to make an installer so noone has issues with installation

Vetern hmm where should i start. Well i LOVE your work its amazing, in fact ive been using your stuff since smod-tactical and its awesome stuff.

And then theres this mod which is amazing.I played the first version and after i used console comands and edited a few scripts to eliminate a few bugs I loved it.I like zombie games alot like l4dead and this is like left 4 dead in half-life 2.

now for suggestions. My first one is a personal one , my all time favorite weapon for life is the mp5 so do you think you can make it look cool both w_models and the one in your hands. Second to add to the suruval bit you should make it so that you can only hold up to 3-4 weapons at one time so you have to choose wisly which ones to keep, also spread out ammo more so you have to use bullets wisly.Also you you put less of the generic zombies and have more fast ones cause i have an amazing computer yet it lagged like hell.

Now for the npc suggestions.It would be cool to make some combine friendly to u but friendly to other combine as well. Also they should seek cover and duck more often and even shoot from behind cover if possible. And finnaly could you make friendlies a little more usfull against zombies and give the F_combines this skin and maybe the ability to throw grenades

Any ways thanks for reading, but i have one more favor to ask. Im trying to get into modding at a young age so later on ill know more how these games work and hopefully have a better chance at getting into a gaming comapany so i was wondering if i could join your team in making this mod.
